Missing Pieces - Ivy Smoak

Hailey - He's still in love with his ex. And I refuse to be a consolation prize. So why did I just agree to a spur of the moment road trip with him? I just have to keep reminding myself that I'm doing this for me. It has nothing to do with the gorgeous man staring at me like I'm a crazy person.

Tyler - Why is she climbing into my car uninvited? I don't care how sweet her smile is. Or how long her legs are. This isn't some aimless summer road trip. But I can tell from the way she's looking at me that she knows the truth. I'm not driving toward something. I'm driving away from something. Someone

My Review:

A completely unexpected story which I fell into headfirst. I didn’t have a lot of hopes of liking this one - I wasn’t in the mood for a Insta-love kinda book because this sort of reads like one.

The writing however was so easy to breeze through, I loved the conversationalist style of the author and how quickly 300 pages went by. The story is about two broken souls who find healing in each other. Its heartbreaking but also puts gives my cheesy romantic heart something to rejoice about.

It was surreal to uncover the pasts of both the characters - a past I wasn’t anticipating. It really added another layer to the characters depth and made me like them more.

A few things I didn’t like was how idealistic the story reads such as how quickly they got together..I wouldn’t mind more angst ;)

And also how quickly they fell in love. It all felt a little too soon but oh well…its fictional right?

Some parts were a little hard to digest because I mean in reality just the thought of some woman jumping into a strange guys car seems…unbelievable. Like stranger danger is still a thing??

I did however like the side characters and how they added to the story. I really liked how sweet and caring the hero was. He was just a broken soul looking for someone to love him as deeply as he loves. Which is why at times I didn’t like how our girl treated him, but I do understand where she comes from. But one thing I strongly disliked about her was how quick she was to accuse and not trust the guy, how she wouldn’t even let him explain. I mean if you love someone it means you trust them..and I expected her to trust him to be a good person. But at the same time I also understand that they fell too soon and don’t really know each other so maybe its something that comes with time? Whatever, it hurt to see him in pain because of that.

It all ends well though and we get a nice happy ending that’s swoony and cute and so sweet! I would definitely recommend you to pick this up if you’re looking for a book that’s low on angst, has two broken souls completing each other and a road trip romance with some steam to rock the boat!
