Sustained (The Legal Briefs #2) - Emma Chase

3.8🌟 Oh I forgot how amazing this autor is! I love her male POV's. She's one of the few authors who does male POVs so gooood. And this books was equal parts hilarious and equal parts adorable! It was so refreshing to have that stupid grin when reading the book!

“Because apparently One Direction’s superpower is instant friendship. Someone should ship them to the Middle East so they can get to work on that Israel-Palestine thing.”

Jake is a Defense Lawyer. He's very good at what he does and everyone knows that. He's the ultimate bachelor: hot, sexy, confident and successful. Enter our heroine. Chelsea is a twenty six year old who's looking after her bothers six children who were orphaned since her brother and wife died. A chance encounter, they meet, instant attraction from the guy. He can't get her out of his head and let the games begin... The writing was amazing, perfect even. The story just flows and you can't stop reading. I usually don't read books with kids in them and that's the reason I delayed reading this for years. And I was an idiot to that. The kids were the heart of this book along with Jake ofcourse. I loved all six of them! They are so totally adorable you'll love them too I promise.

“There's two of him?" Chelsea grins. "If that's your way of asking if Rory has a twin, then the answer is yes." "I see you've met my brother," the boy says, apparently used to this reaction. "Don't judge me just because we share the same DNA. You've heard the term 'evil genius'?" "Yeah." "Rory's the evil. I'm the genius.”

There were a few things about the plot that disappointed me but nothing too major. Pick this up if you're looking for a romantic, all male POV book, reformed playboy meets homegirl, legal background and six kids who are the cutest ever!

“That won’t give me my lipstick back, you little brat!”

“I couldn’t help myself!” she pleads.

And I unconsciously nod. That’s it, kid—go with insanity. It’s all you’ve got left.

And if you're curious to know the disappointing parts I'll list them below but they are spoilers so read at your own risk. WARNING:

SPOILERS BELOW

• I didn't like how Jake does all that in the beginning because he's attracted to her and wants sex in return. • I didn't like how the fight turned out when Jake blames her , what she's wearing, etc when Chelsea gets sexually harassed by her old friend. Spoilers over.

About the book:

A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight. When you’re a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be, and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I, Jake Becker, have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating—and that suits me just fine. In fact, it’s necessary when I’m breaking down a witness on the stand. Complications don’t work for me—I’m a “need-to-know” type of man. If you’re my client, tell me the basic facts. If you’re my date, stick to what will turn you on. I’m not a therapist or Prince Charming—and I don’t pretend to be. Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, the emergency room, and arguing cases in the principal's office. Chelsea’s too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she’s not. She needs someone to help her, defend her…and the kids. And that — that, I know how to do.
