Fantasy, Adventure, Action
Set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as "the Continent", The Witcher explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia and princess Ciri, who are linked by destiny to each other. The show initially follows the three main protagonists at different points of time, exploring formative events that shaped their characters, before eventually merging into a single timeline.
Season 1 (Episodes 8)
Duration : 1hr/episode
If you're a lover of adventurous plots in mystic lands you'll certainly like this one! I mean the sole reason I started this is because of Henry Cavil but let's leave that out (NOT) (HAVE YOU SEEN HIM?!) He is hotness incarnate. *Fans self*
This series basically centres around this fictional land, where our main hero Geralt..and yes this time I mean like an actual beast-slaying, eye smoldering, saving the day kind of hero. He's hot to look at, cold to the touch but with a heart that can melt popsicles (Tehehe). Oh and his eyes are a mysteriously sexy golden orange color. Okay enough with the vanity let's get to the story.
In a place where there are dwindling numbers of mutant people called 'Witchers' who are magical beings with super strength whose sole purpose in life is monster-killing, Geralt is one of the best. Witchers are disliked by all creatures on the land and feared by some. They are rumoured to be emotionless, heartless savages - all false.
This series takes you through Geralt's life through a past/present scene sequence. The past/ present scene was a little difficult at first to adjust to. It became slightly hard to know which was the past and which present, but with references such as 'oh that characters dead in the present so this has got to be the past' it wasn't exactly too much of a hardship. XD
The character development in this series is no joke. Especially one of the most acclaimed characters of all - Yennefer of Vangerberg (Our maybe heroine). She has such a great story arc, it's simply mind blowing. Obviously I thought she was going to be those goody- goody types but her role is so intricately woven that it's worth it to experience first hand. A lot of people love her transformation scene. And I have to admit, she's really hot. Oh wait, I forgot to mention - she's a witch. With magic and all.
Though I've not seen the Game of Thrones a lot of comments point towards it having a similar feel/vibe but with less deaths and blood and gore.
I went into this series believing it to be a romantic series, or atleast have a major chunk of romance it but it's sadly not. But the little it does have is quite satisfactory.
It's got a little of everything - magic, monsters, heroes, friends, foes, family and ... a cliffhanger *gasp* But fret not..its been confirmed there's going to be a season 2 !
